Burn-out: what is it?Burn-out is an emergency call of an individual. It is a call for less stress and restlessness, for more stability, purpose and inner peace. It doesn't even matter, whether the disease was officially diagnosed or not. We know ourselves, when we have reached our limit. Burn-out creates the perception that the disease's outer circumstances, such as over-work, lack of recognition, and/or high pressure, are also its underlying causes. But this common belief could be misleading, because it invites passiveness. Of course, outer influences have an effect on us, but in regard to Burn-out, rather than external causes, it is mostly the individual's reaction to them, which is responsible for the imbalance. An individual, who is restless and imbalanced, experiences external factors differently than somebody, who is internally centered. One logical way to deal with the exhaustion is to change the stress factors. But what, if they are your job or your family? It is certainly possible to adjust some details, but the effort to eliminate all negative influences, turns mostly in an impossible trench warfare. HumanFlow uses an alternative approach to target Burn-out, and chronic stress. We focus on the individual's reaction to external influences. You learn how to be aware in everyday life, without falling into the internal exhaustion cycle. What exactly does this mean? It means to move out of the narrowness of mental conditioning and thought identification by enlivening a state of still awareness, beyond thoughts, feelings, experiences and circumstances. |
It is a fact that when mental restlessness is reduced, exhaustion decreases within a short amount of time. Some anti-depressants follow this principle. Everybody experiences this mechanism during our hobby, pleasure, and quality time, e.g., when listening to good music, promenade in nature, relax in front of an open fire, and/or drink a glass of red wine. The mind quiets down, and we experience more lightness. It works like a meditation practice. By lowering inner restlessness in daily life, already after little training, we can experience an increasing degree of relaxation. We perceive perceive more inner silence, in time become solid as a rock. In this state, the effect of stress factors on us decreases, and our ability to heal increases.
