The Balance-Principle - Advaita TherapyEverything consists of energy. We only have to know how to uncover, and channel it constructively. Stress can have a positive effect (eustress) or a negative one (distress) on us. With stress, whether it is of physical or psychological nature, the individual first enters an alarm phase, followed by a resistance phase (adaptation). If the adaptation fails, an exhaustion phase is initiated: the alarm continues, deepens. Eventually, the organism "tires out". With chronic stress or Burn-out, the individual is trapped in an on-going exhaustion cycle, until, in the extreme case, the entire energy reserve is used up. Then, even a small blow can push us off balance. Through the holistic Advaita Therapy the individual learns how to change the alarm and resistance phase through awareness and observation. The exhaustion phase falls away altogether, or at least, is minimised. Individuals with chronic stress learn how to take inner breaks in daily life, and thereby, fill up their replenished energy reserves (and keep them this way). The actual basis of the Advaita Therapy is the stimulation of right brain activity, while lowering left brain activity. The right part of the brain is responsible for holistic, integrative and intuitive thinking, with parallel processing, and picture-association. It perceives a unified state of Nowness through the unfiltered inflow of sensory impressions of touch, sight, vision, smell and taste. This part of the brain is silent, expansive and harmonious. The left side of the brain interprets everything what is perceived by the right side. It analyses, evaluates, separates, and details the details according to a linear pattern. Everything is filtered through the information of the past, and then projected into the future. Instead of pictures and sensory impressions, the left hemisphere thinks in words. It is the permanent voice in our head that tells us who we are, and what is our past and future. The feeling of "I am an individual, separated from everything else" has its seat in this part of the brain. When there is left brain over-activity, without "right" balance, we develop sooner or later an imbalance, which can express itself as Burn-out, chronic stress, insomnia, tensions, etc. |
Whatever state is perceived, also determines our everyday life. Actually, which state is in the foreground is a question of attention, a choice, we can make in every moment, when we are conscious. Most people unconsciously choose the left side: identification with thought. Advaita Therapy supports individuals to find personal balance, to relax our mind, and to experience something that is beyond thoughts, analysis, stress and separation. We learn how to take inner breaks of harmony during everyday activity, thereby, bringing space to the stress of daily life. Within us, there exists a state of being, where in this very moment, we are beautiful, we are complete, we are harmonious, existing in absolute unity with everything else. This is the basic state of each individual, independent on outer circumstances. To discover this, experience it, and integrate balance into our daily life, is a question of openness, your openness. At the same time, it is an opportunity to transform crisis and exhaustion into a transforming self-experience. We look forward to hear from you.
